I promise that this is the last question I ask this week:

When reading "Medieval clothing, armour, and weapons" I came across a mention
that around the half of the 14th century in Bohemia, there were detachable
sleeves. For ex. they were used under the elbow-length sleeves with a tippet.
This makes me a little confused as I've always thought the tight sleeves that
were visible under the shorter peaked sleeves of the over-robe were the part of
the under-robe beneath it. Now they claim there were detachable sleeves. Is
that right? If yes, how were the sleeves attached to the dress? By strings?
I've got the original Czech version of the book, so I can't tell the exact
page where I found it, but it might be around the 8th page from the beginning,
there where the author starts to explain what were the significant changes in
clothing around 1350.

  Thanks,

  Zuzana
