I left school (near Derby, England) in 1969.

I can't remember the maximum distance above the knee that we were
allowed to wear our skirts (probably 3 in.), but I remember a row of
girls kneeling along the edge of the stage in the school hall to have
their skirts measured. Although I'm slim, I have short, stocky legs so I
couldn't wear my skirts very far above the knee without risking showing
too much!

Trousers were definitely not allowed, neither was jewellery other than
a wristwatch, and long hair had to be tied up ("bunches" being the
favourite style).

It was a girls' school, so I can't tell you about rules for boys, but I
don't remember seeing a schoolboy with a moustache, then or since.
