I bought about 8 yards of linen/rayon blend in a deep purple. Washed it according to instructions, cold water, no chlorine bleach. I used the laundry detergent I always use (ALL) and added some fabric softener to the last rinse. It has done something I've never seen in anything store bought. It had slightly lighter marks all over and then a couple of large blobs of darker stuff. The dark marks almost look like there was oil dropped on it, and the lighter marks perhaps from the fabric softener?
I washed another dark blue piece right after, and it is just fine. I am rewashing the purple in synthropol, in hopes that it will fix it. Any other suggestions? I've seen this effect when I have botched a dye job, but not in manufacturer dyed fabric.
