I think that any hat that is felted is so densely felted together that it is very durable. I don't know of any solution that makes a hat stiff. Must be one though.Sincerely, Rebecca Rautine
You can use hide glue to stiffen felt or buckram. Hatmakers also use thinned shelac to stiffen and waterproof felt hats.
