I recall my grandmother speaking to my older brother in the 1960s as he was 
dressed to go out for the night in his velvet jacket and fashion jeans, "I 
really love your jacket but why do you have those old dungarees on...?"


I, of course, never wore anything unusual in the 1970s:
High-waisted cuffed baggies (trousers tight at the top then flairing to an 
Oxford bag) with three buttons at the waist and, probably, testicular 
separation;
A body shirt;
A tight, red, blue and green V-neck ribbed pullover that had a wide band at 
the bottom;
8" platform shoes,
