Often the "ordinary" cut was used in masqued costumes, but they were decorated in some fancy ways, wich was not ordinary. Cavalier style was much heep in the end of 18th century, but made not as historically correct, as we do today, more a sort of 18th century way of cavalier style, if you know what i meen.

Subject: [h-cost] Late 18th c. masquerade wear

Hi all! I may be going to a masque ball with a London in 1790 setting in
a few months, and I'm wondering what sets masquerade clothes and
accessories apart from regular clothing in the 1780's and 90's. Is there
anything published on this specific subject, or any relevant web pages?
I've tried to google for sites and books but have come up short.

The very few contemporary pictures I've found look like people wore
normal party wear and just added masks, but somehow that strikes me as
odd. I would appreciate any info on this. :)
