Unfortunately I don't have a clear enough image to be able to answer this
question: Is there a round button at the center of the converging
triangles on the black "box" on the back of her head? I think I see it,
but I'm not sure.

You may also want to have a look at this effigy
http://www.tudoreffigies.co.uk/browse/view.asp?id=66 (the Tudor Effigies
website is back and it has it's own domain) it shows a 3D image of a Gable
hood you can see the back is basically the same (a box covered with 4
triangles) and there's definitely no button on this one.
