Philadelphia had a stocking hosiery industry. My mother's family worked
in it. My mother, BTW, was old enough to be my grandmother; or at
least, she was from the generation previous to my father's. She and all
her relations are dead now, so there is no one I can ask for further info.

publications were out of Philly. Also they were the largest producers of
baby caps in the U.S. during the 1890s. I am running across several
manufacturers in the area in 1905.
