It looks like what is commonly called an "attifet" these days, but it is a bit smaller and closer to the head.
Oh, you're right! It does look like an attifet! I hadn't seen it this way! But on a lot of paintings it's closer to a small round cap (Italian-style), with a teardrop-shaped pearl at the front of the hair part.
I have Margo's patterns, I'll see if I can adapt the attifet pattern. Thanks!
