Woot! Welcome to the dark side!

If you mean the dark side being Spanish costuming, then I'm happy to join you. If you mean that dress is dark, my fabric is a dark gold colour so it won't be nearly as dark as this one. It's the style I like :-)

I can sent you a scaled diagram of it if you like?

It would be a good starting point, if you don't mind sending it.

Oh! Yes there is a bit of a layout if you look at an extant gown that
is laid flat: http://sayaespanola.glittersweet.com/extant.htm

Two things bother me about this sleeve. On the site, she mentions that they were cut at the top to accomodate the statue, and also they seem to be two plain triangles, but on actual gowns the slit is not in the front - or is the sleeve simply worn slightly rotated?

I used Alcega and extant garments as above to have a smooth fitting
front and sides and then pleating in the very back to allow more
movement to my train.

I looked at the patterns in Alcega yesterday night, but they didn't tell me much other than most outer gowns are cut in a semicircle.

It seems Isabel de Valois might have brought a French fashion with her
for wearing jewels and a jewelled net thing

Yes, it does seem that way. So I guess I could fudge it quickly with a pearled hair net until I find/make something more suitable. Some of them seem to have the small round Italian hat also, over the hair net thingie. Short hair is going to be a struggle for this one though :-) With medieval clothing I just hide it under the veil and wear fake braids...

Oh and you are lucky! The portrait of Ana does not
having a matching carcanet and girdle!

I hadn't even started thinking about that yet! I like pearls :-)

Thank you so much for the detailed answer! You really got my brain working...

Audrey
