I'm curious how other people on this list use smaller pieces of fabric. I'll admit it, I'm looking to steal ideas. Since most of the fabrics are brocades and damasks, I have a strongly 16th Century inclination. I'd love to see uses in other periods for other fabrics.

How do you define "small'?

I need about half a yard to line the body of a dress or a ren-fest bodice. Smaller than that and it goes in a box which I push off on someone else for crafting, doll clothes, or simply throw away. Mostly it gets used as a cat bed. :)

Anything larger than half a yard has usually been purchased with a specific project in mind and there is enough for the jerkin, doublet or skirt in the piece. I started labeling the yardage so I can tell at a glance what I've got.
