So, when did Nehru jackets come in?

The year "Talk to the Animals" won an Academy Award.  (It won for 1967, so I
think the awards show was in 1968).  I remember watching the show, and thinking
one of the men must be a priest, as it looked like a Roman collar, but then
Sammy Davis, Jr., came out and sang wearing a Nehru jacket.  That was the first
I had seen or heard of them.  Several gents at the Oscars were wearing them.
That had to be one of the shortest-lived fads ever.  Think they lasted about 3
months.  I knew it was all over when I saw a royal blue one for sale at
Woolworth's for $39.99!

In Southern California (probably the rest of California too) long skirts
ame in with the Hippie look. Bonnie Parker's skirts were much straighter
han ours, which were either tiered or gathered and very full. I remember
hese skirts when I was still in high school, before the film came out.

y recolle
ction, as a teenager in the English Midlands, is that "maxi" (i.e.
calf-length) skirts came in with the film "Bonnie & Clyde" in 1967-8.
