The multicast requirement in 11.2.0.2 is removed with the application of a RAC patch: from Ron Maier:

Please apply the bug fix patch 9974223 on top of your 11.2.0.2 . Patch for 11.2.0.2 GI on Solaris Sparc 64 bit is available in MOS

Mani,

I don't recall what the actual issues are. We are currently investigating them. Thus I cannot comment on whether your suggestions will make any difference. Given we don't yet support the combination, any changes/workarounds like this could not be supported by Oracle.

Thanks Tim.

If clprivnet is the issue, is it possible to use the actual
interfaces for multicasting and change oracle private ip to that
interfaces. Can we configure both private interfaces for
multicasting ? Giving the following command to to setup multicast on
224.. ip

/usr/sbin/route -n add -interface 224.0/4 -gateway "<private
ip_address>"

Is it possible to setup the above command for 2 different ip? Will
oracle 11.2.0.2 version do the failover or load balance if we use
this approach. However Doc id Doc ID 1210883.1 has info which says
haip is disabled if using sun cluster.

In the above scenario, is it a workaround to install 11.2.0.2 with
sun cluster?

Thanks --Mani
