I like arthus' idea of a single chat or call in which the details would be discussed definitively rather than weeks of speculation. After that, whoever wants to attempt to implement those ideas (aka squareweave) should give it their best shot and post it on -dev for review (a transcript should probably be posted somewhere).
Whether or not the design contains a link is just one of the many things that may or may not influence the final decision of the community.
