I agree with Nadav about installing out of the box, but there are several
points I want to stress:
If you choose the custom installation, or pick packages ("development
stuff" etc.), you will leave certain things behind. Usually I found that I
need to make sure explicitely that zsh is included.
Also, make sure you install ivrix (based on elatex), lyx and hspell (on
the writing front)
xv and xfig (on the graphics front). I think most of these do not come
with RH.
