Hi all, HanoiLUG is the forum for Linux users, but I think this kind of discussion is useful. What we want is to promote using FOSS, then most of related things should be considered.
In the view of the FOSS advocates, promoting by normal activities such as writing in forums, newspapers, event organizations are great. But I agreed with Hieu that FOSS is somehow related to so-called "politics", though I don't want to use that word. To promote using FOSS, we should consider three pillars: users, government, businesses. From business side, surely that companies have to care about the financial issues in Vietnam. I myself think, and my company did success sometimes, in order to work with Customers, dealing with FOSS not as the opposition of M$, but as an alternative or/and co-existence. Hence, companies still can do business, Customers still be happy, and FOSS still can developed, step by step. Not all of HanoiLUG members are techies, so discussion about different issues could be also taken into consideration. My two cents, Best and have a nice weekend, Binh.
