The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
No doubt you'll familiar with the terrible bombing in Bali, Indonesia this weekend
which claimed the lives of at least 188 people, mostly foreign tourists...The
Indonesian Defense Minister is blaming Al-Qaeda...Plus, it appears also that the
French oil tanker that exploded near Yemen a couple of weeks ago was the work of
terrorists as well...You also know that the killing of the Marine in Kuwait last week
was the work of an Al-Qaeda trained terrorists...
Is the Al-Qaeda crew on the rise? What next? As we gin up the war machine against
Iraq, how's the "other" war on terrorism going? We'll talk to an all-star panel of
experts: Steve Emerson, GW Prof/bin Laden profiler Jerrold Post, Simon Reeve (yes, the
Oasis looking dude) and LA Times Robin Wright....
In the D block we'll tackle a new angle in the debate over guns...Should guns have a
unique "fingerprint" so that the government can trace them back to the owner? A
particularly relevant debate these days as the Beltway shooter is still at large...
We're going to break up the Buzz in two parts tonight...Zogby will be in E with his
latest poll numbers on AR & SD Senate races plus FL gov....We'll also try to break out
one of those cool Saddam ads they're running in SD...
In F we'll go big picture with Howard on Bush's travel sked this week, the Dems trying
to change the subject to the economy and his latest piece...Just got off the phone
with him and here's his suggested Buzz backgrounder: The 'Anxiety Election'...Among
the sniper's victims: the public's sense of security. How both political parties are
running on the fear http://msnbc.com/news/820726.asp
