The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
It's official...The "One Week Fritz Blitz" has begun...Walter's off and running and
Norm is already making "the past" (read age) an issue...Here's Norm campaiging at
O'Gara's bar and grill in St. Paul: "You can either move into the future, or you can
get stuck in the past..Nothing is going to be handed to you."
At the historic State Theatre here, "Fritz" was given a rock star's welcome tonight
from the party faithful who unanimously nominated him to replace Wellstone on the Nov.
5 ballot. Mixing new and old, the elder statesman, followed by throngs of Generation X
Wellstone volunteers, entered the emotional meeting to the muscular, optimistic beat
of U2's "Beautiful Day."

Editor's note: U2 peaked at Joshua Tree but that's another discussion...
It's gonna be an action packed show tonight...We'll kick the it off with a big picture
look at the political landscape vis-a-vis congressional control with Howard
Fineman...Then we'll bring on the Chairmen of the Minnesota GOP and Dem parties....
Remember that compelling video on Tuesday of the illegal Haitians swarming the shore
in South Florida? In the B/C block we'll talk to a couple of Florida members of
Congress (Mark Foley will be one of them) about the Gubernatorial race down there and
how that issue will play out, particularly for Jeb...Did you that confrontation with
him and Dem Rep. Carrie Meek yesterday?? It could be decisive...
Governor pressed to 'call brother' for help (Miami Herald)
http://www.miami.com/mld/miami/news/politics/4408534.htm
In the e/f block we'll talk to Pat Buchanan (Co-host of MSNBC's "Buchanan & Press"/All
around cool dude at the office water cooler) and MSNBC terrorism guru Steve Emerson
about the Haitian immigration incident...What does it say about our immigration
policy? Homeland Security? What if those folks were Al-Qaeda terrorists?
And in the D block we'll play those nasty ads we've been promising for a while now and
discuss them with Frank Luntz....
Sorry I gotta make this one kinda short...Really jammin' around America's NewsChannel
today with all the election coverage prep we're doing...I haven't felt this much
anticipatory excitement since Dokken released "Back for the Attack" and went on tour
with Aerosmith in '87....
Happy Halloween and all that stuff...Halloween's actually never been the same since
the Tylenol murders in '82...That never stopped me from trick or treating though...Be
cool...Later..
