            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Bush, Blair and Aznar are kickin' it to an Azores island in the eastern-Atlantic this
weekend for a last minute diplomatic pow wow on Iraq and to plot strategy...One of our
guests tonight, David Kay, calls it the "Go to War Summit" and suggests that to put
the public face on this war Bush must hold together his primary coalition and blame
the resolution's failure on the UN and France...

Needless to say we'll bring you up to speed on all the day's events with NBC's David
Gregory from the White House lawn and then chat with Kay, a former weapons inspector
and now an NBC News analyst...Folks, we've got the sharpest experts in the business...

In the B/C blocks we'll talk to the senior editor of Foreign Affairs Magazine Jonathan
Tepperman and Fmr. US Ambassador to the UN Ken Adelman about the latest last ditch
efforts get the wheels back on the diplomatic bus...Plus, a highly classified State
Department memo which was leaked and "pooh poohs" the notion of Democratization in a
post-Iraq war Middle East...We'll pull the hot quote from this developing bureaucratic
fight...

Later we'll re-air the Margolis/Armey debate on occupying Iraq...How much is it going
to cost and is America capable of the endeavor? Yeah, the one you missed the other
night because of the Smart news...It's a good one...

And in my favorite segment the Buzz, we've got Carl and Terry, both totally pumped and
primed for action...We'll do the Bush diplomatic/Iraq stuff and we've also got some
smokin' hot fullscreen quotes from Kerry and Dean...Kerry is slamming Bush and Dean is
slamming the "Votes for, speaks against" Caucus in the Senate...

Cool Paul Stanley Quote: "And since there is no rehearsal for your life, you only get
one chance. And, if we believe anything, it's that we need to go out and live the life
that we choose. If you're behind somebody else, you need to start your own parade."

Mortman's latest political dispatch: Capitol notebook...Saudi media offensive and
other political notes http://msnbc.com/news/884863.asp?0dm=C25GN

Editor's note on Mortman's piece above: The Briefing also attended the Saudi embassy
event and has this special note about the food: The Briefing is allergic to salmon so
was forced to eat the rosemary potatoes, asparagus and hummus, which wasn't bad...One
of the PBS guys had the same problem...And for the record, we were served an
assortment of juices during the reception...No sign of Prince Bandar bin Sultan...
