If you missed last night's Dowd/Devine smackdown folks it was a humdinger! We lit the
place on fire! But have no fear, we posted the whole video of the segment on our blog
late last night...Chris was all fired up yesterday when he heard that the RNC was
running a web video using a clip from Hardball which he thought was taken out of
context...President Bush made an oblique reference to the same clip on Saturday while
campaigning in Sioux City, Iowa...We pulled the Bush bite, the original Kerry/Matthews
bite, the RNC web video and threw in BC04 Sr. Strategist Matthew Dowd and Sr. Advisor
to Kerry-Edwards, Tad Devine...What followed was pure Hardball magic...Watch the full
8 minute video here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5651884/?#040816b But be warned,
this segment is extremely hot and I'd suggest you have a fan nearby...
We'll follow this up hard tonight with Dem strategist Steve McMahon, GOP strategist
Rick Davis, Time magazine's Jay Carney and some other folks.
We'll also talk to Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf about Iraq, President Bush's new troop
deployment plan announced yesterday (which would essentially concentrate our military
in the Middle East) and the war on terror generally....
Definitely a break out the TV tray & pop the popcorn kind of night my friends...And if
you've got Tivo, set it!
Chris hosts the show tonight from Los Angeles...
Did I mention we have the segment posted on our blog from last night??

Also from last night's show: Sen. Tom Harkin pushed the name-calling in the
presidential race to a new level, calling Vice President Dick Cheney a coward for not
serving in Vietnam and cowardly for his criticism of John Kerry.
