The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
It's just four days until Hardball heads to Memphis for the first stop in the
fight for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. The Southern
Republican Leadership Conference this weekend will be the site of the first
major straw poll among state party members in Southern and Midwestern states.
The survey will be conducted by National Journal's "The Hotline," and you can
see the results on MSNBC.com on Saturday night! Will Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN)
take the prize on his home turf? Will Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) find support
among influential officials from these key electoral states? Or will someone
else win? Check out more about Hardball and MSNBC.com's coverage plans here:

But before we get to good ole Rocky Top, there's a lot to talk about. And
tonight on Hardball, Chris will have two exclusive interviews: one with House
Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and one with K.T. McFarland, the New York
Republican who just started her campaign to unseat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton
(D-NY). It's going to be a huge night!
By the way, check out the AP's report this afternoon that Sen. Clinton told a
breakfast audience she considers Republicans' "anger" charges against her to be
a "badge of honor." Read it here:

Plus, Philadelphia radio talk show host Michael Smerconish and Rev. Al Sharpton
will join Chris tonight to talk about the latest in the port politics, the new
challenger for 2008 Democratic frontrunner Clinton, the president's scuffles
with his own party on Capitol Hill, the political messages during Sunday's
Academy Awards broadcast, and much, much more! Hardball's Oscar Correspondent
Ashley Pearson will have more on the politics of Hollywood's big night!
