            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Right now and for the next 48 hours, the center of the Republican world is in
downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Chris, your Hardball election team, and MSNBC.com,
are all here for the big weekend. More than 1,500 Republicans from 26 states
are here for the Southern Republican Leadership Conference and it's clear that
a lot of them have 2008 on their minds. Hardball and MSNBC.com are your place
to catch all the sights and sounds coming out of the first major 2008 GOP
gathering!

Chris reported big breaking news today that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will urge
his supporters tonight to write in President Bush's name in The Hotline's
presidential straw poll instead of voting for him! We just got going here in
Memphis and McCain is stealing the spotlight! Here's more on that:

check in constantly on Hardblogger and MSNBC.com for more reports from your
Hardball team and MSNBC.com's Tom Curry on http://www.hardblogger.msnbc.com and

Plus, Chris will report for NBC Nightly News on Saturday and Sunday nights and
for the TODAY show on Saturday morning. And, of course, you can check in for

Tonight on Hardball at 5 and 7 p.m. Eastern, Chris will talk with top elephants
mingling with the ducks at the historic Peabody Hotel. Our guests tonight
include Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen.
George Allen (R-VA), Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS), Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), Sen.
Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MS), and RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman.
The Hotline's Editor-in-Chief Chuck Todd and Newsweek's Howard Fineman also
will join Chris to talk about who is making news in Memphis (and who's not).
You must catch both shows so you don't miss a thing!

But wait, it doesn't stop there, on Saturday night we'll have a huge Hardball
special report on MSNBC cable and on MSNBC.com live at 9 p.m. Eastern. On
Saturday night, Chris will have the results of The Hotline's greatly
anticipated presidential straw poll. Chris also will talk with Sen. Sam
Brownback (R-KS), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), and Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) on
Saturday night. And you don't want to miss Chris' conversation with NBC
Political Analyst Charlie Cook.

called Tipster/Pixster? If not, then don't wait any longer! It's a forum for
sharing color in a gray world of politics. Who'd you see? What were they doing?
What did they say? Send in your tip or digital photo and we'll post it with
your description of the scene and any other fun tidbits. It's all here:
