The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball, Tyler Drumheller, the former top man for the CIA in
Europe, sits down for an exclusive cable interview to discuss his claim that
the White House cherry-picked intelligence about Saddam Hussein's weapons
capability to make the case for the war in Iraq. Read more about Drumheller's
take in the New York Times:

Also tonight, NBC Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory, sitting in for
Chris, will have the latest on the president's pitch to address rising gas
prices. Fueled by discontent at the pumps and from both parties on Capitol
Hill, President Bush today unveiled a four-part plan. In addition to a
temporary diversion of available fuel to the pump instead of to the nation's
strategic oil reserve, the president also called for a full blown federal
investigation into the possibility of gas price-gouging in the U.S. Here's the
AP's full report on that: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12469582/.
Hardball Correspondent David Shuster will have details on the policy and
politics of the president's push. Plus, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) will be here
to react to the president's plan. Check out what Cantwell said about the gas
impasse on Monday:

For more on how the gas pump prices are affecting consumers across the country,
David will talk with Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) and Gov. Jodi Rell (R-CT). The
governors will also discuss how the ongoing illegal immigration debate in D.C.
is resonating in their states.
By the way, check out this brand new story by MSNBC.com's Tom Curry on the
bipartisan accord and gridlock over energy:

Time columnist Joe Klein, author of "Politics Lost," and Kate O'Beirne,
Washington editor of the National Review, also will be here to talk about the
politics of gas prices, the president's poor polls, and the early positioning
in the race for 2008!
