            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

President Bush introduced Tony Snow as his new press secretary today at the
White House. The soon-to-be former Fox News host is no stranger to the West
Wing, having once worked for the first President Bush's speechwriting team. But
just as the press corps met their new briefer, word busted loose that White
House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove was headed down Pennsylvania Avenue to
testify once again for a grand jury in the CIA leak investigation. Here's more
on that from NBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12388079/.

Tonight, NBC Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory, sitting in for
Chris, will talk with 2008-prospect Sen. George Allen (R-VA) about the changes
at the White House and what further changes might be in store for personnel and
policy there.

Hardball Correspondent David Shuster will have the latest on Rove's courthouse
trip. Former Clinton White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers and Ben
Ginsberg, former counsel to the Bush-Cheney campaigns, will be here to talk
about the new face for the White House and what the president could try to
improve his poll numbers in this midterm election year. Read MSNBC's report on
Snow's arrival: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12486665/.

Also tonight, Slate.com's John Dickerson and Newsweek's Dan Klaidman will join
David to talk about all of the White House news. Check out Dickerson's piece
explaining "why Republicans are screwed" here:
http://www.slate.com/id/2140538/.

Plus, don't miss David's conversation with John O'Connor, co-author with Mark
Felt of "A G-Man's Life," and Nick Jones, Felt's grandson, about the new book
detailing Deep Throat's experiences with the FBI and Washington politics during
the Watergate era.

And be sure to tune in for Hardball on Thursday for a must-see interview with
Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN)! Will the Frist-led Senate's pork pursuits force the
president to veto emergency spending for Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Gulf Coast?
What's in store for Frist's final eight months as majority leader?
