            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Tonight, as the Senate debates the future for U.S. troops in Iraq, Sen. John
McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) will play Hardball on the war,
Democrats' proposals for leaving Iraq, and how our presence there is affecting
the situations with Iran and North Korea. Here's a recap of the day's debate so
far from the AP: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13456702/.

MSNBC Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell sits in for Chris tonight
and will ask the senators about the battle over when to leave. Do Democrats
need to unite behind by one plan for handling Iraq? Do Republicans control the
debate by labeling their opponents as the "cut and run" party? Are problems in
Iraq complicating the Bush Administration's ability to deal with Iran and North
Korea? The AP updates on that front with the president in Europe:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13451888/.

North Korea's request to talk with the U.S. was rejected, per the AP:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13450911/.

Also tonight, Norah will talk with the uncle of one of the missing U.S.
soldiers who was found dead this week. The AP has the latest on that:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13432770/.

In more Iraq news, the Marine Corps plans to charge seven Marines and one
sailor with murder in the April death of an Iraqi civilian. Norah will talk
with the father of one of the accused and his attorney tonight about the
charges against those troops. Here's more from the AP:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13459928/.

John Dickerson of Slate.com also will join Norah tonight to talk about the
debate over Iraq. Read his latest piece on how the war is affecting Sen. Joe
Lieberman (D-CT)'s re-election campaign:

Don't miss Hardball Thursday with House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH)!
Plus, we'll talk to a former Gitmo Bay prisoner whose story is told in new film
"Road to Guantanamo."
