The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
The Justice Department announced today that it stopped a plot by so-called
"homegrown terrorists" to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago. Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales said that seven men had been charged with conspiring to work
with al-Qaida to attack the landmark skyscraper along with several federal
buildings. Here's more from NBC News: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13497335/.
Tonight on Hardball, MSNBC Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell sits
in for Chris and will have the latest on the foiled bombing plot with NBC
Counter-Terrorism Analyst Roger Cressey.
Also tonight, we'll talk to a former Guantanamo Bay prisoner who was held there
for two years before being released without any charges. His story is part of
the new film "Road to Guantanamo." Norah also will talk with the director of
that film, which opens in theaters today. You can find out more about it here:
http://www.roadtoguantanamomovie.com/.
Plus, Cully Stimson, deputy assistant defense secretary for detainee affairs,
will answer questions about what happens with the people held in Guantanamo
Bay. This is an interview you don't want to miss!
And yes, you know what's coming. It's Friday. What does that mean? It means
it's time for the Hardball HotShots! This week, Norah welcomes Mike Barnicle,
MSNBC contributor and Boston Herald columnist, Ron Reagan, MSNBC political
analyst, and Terry Jeffrey, editor of Human Events magazine. The trio will chew
on how Karl Rove will spend the next 137 days, how Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)
found WMDs, how close North Korea is to going nuclear, and much, much more!
