The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Has the country seen the end of the Bush Administration's "cowboy diplomacy"?
Have Iran and North Korea become more aggressive because of what's happening in
Iraq? The AP has the latest on the North Korea stand-off:

Time magazine asks the cowboy question on the cover page this week. Tonight on
Hardball, Chris is back and he'll talk with the author of that piece, White
House correspondent Mike Allen, along with Bloomberg News' Chief Political
Correspondent Roger Simon about how the international situation is shaping the
political picture for the president. Here's Time's take:

Allen and Simon -- our Hardballers for the night -- also will chew through the
latest political headlines and the very latest in political video clips from
YouTube.com. By the way, now you can see the latest political video here:

House Intelligence Committee Chair Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) made headlines this
weekend when he said the Bush Administration wasn't fulfilling its legal
obligation to brief members of Congress. Chris will talk with Hoekstra's
Democratic committee counterpart Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) and former Bush
Administration Asst. Atty. Gen. Viet Dinh tonight about whether there is enough
disclosure from the executive branch to Capitol Hill. Here's more on Hoekstra's
thoughts from the Washington Post:

Hardball's David Shuster will report on the U.S. military's probes into various
cases of alleged atrocities against Iraqi civilians. Why are these incidents
happening? Chris will talk about what it's like to be charged with Marine Lt.
Ilario Pantano, who was charged and acquitted of premeditated murder in the
shooting of two Iraqi civilians. Read a write-up of Pantano's book in the
Washington Times: http://washingtontimes.com/books/20060624-111826-1940r.htm.
And don't miss Chris' conversation with Jeff and Pam Ippel, a Kansas couple who
are both on the ballot for the state legislature this November -- against each
other. UPI has more:
