The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
If you missed the Rumsfeld testimony this morning before the Armed Services
Committee, you do not want to miss Hardball tonight. The Secretary faced
questions on troop withdrawal and potential civil war in Iraq, and tonight,
Mike Barnicle is joined by two Senators who questioned the Secretary, Sen. Jack
Reed (D-RI) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA).
The steamiest Hardball Hot Race is in Connecticut, where last night Reverend Al
Sharpton endorsed anti-war candidate Ned Lamont in his primary bid against Joe
Lieberman. And this morning, a Quinnipiac poll has Lieberman down by nearly 13
points. Tonight we'll hear from Rev. Al himself and from Dan Gerstein, a
Lieberman campaign advisor.
We'll also have more on the ongoing Mideast Conflict with NBC's Richard Engel
in Tyre and Peter Alexander in Tel Aviv.
One of the Marines allegedly involved in the Haditha incident, Frank Wuterich,
is suing Rep. John Murtha. Wuterich's attorney Mark Zaid will have the details
on the lawsuit and charges filed.
In response to that lawsuit, today former Senator Max Cleland rallied Murtha
supporters outside Murtha's Johnstown, PA office. In a Hardball exclusive,
he'll explain why he's speaking out on behalf of the Congressman.
