            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
The fallout from Decision 2006 has bags being packed to (and from) Capitol
Hill, but before you pack up for the weekend, catch Hardball for a complete
wrap on the midterm election and a look at what lies ahead.

We begin tonight with Hardball Correspondent David Shuster on the new faces of
Congressional leadership. Yesterday, President Bush and expected House
Speaker-to-be Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) pledged to work together, but what can
we really expect from the new Congress and the White House? And will the plan
for Iraq change with a new Congress and Defense Secretary? We'll be joined by
Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) to talk about these
questions and the results of Decision 2006. Read the Washington Post: Reid,
Pelosi expected to keep tight rein http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15648548/.

We'll also take a closer look at the hotly contested Virginia Senate race with
Senator-elect Jim Webb (D-VA) campaign adviser Steve Jarding and former
Virginia Governor and RNC chair Jim Gilmore. Check out "George Allen's Rise
and Fall" in the Washington Post: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15648543/.

When the dust settled in Connecticut, incumbent Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) stood
with a narrow win over Democrat Diane Farrell. He'll be here tonight to talk
about the role of Iraq in the Connecticut races. Click here for a Newsweek web
exclusive on Shays: Close Call
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15620543/site/newsweek/?nav=slate). Plus, read the
AP on Shays' colleague in Connecticut, incumbent Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT),
who's saying: Call me a Democrat http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15653579/.

Then, Chris will be joined by MSNBC Political Analyst and Hotline
Editor-in-Chief Chuck Todd, Jim VandeHei of the Washington Post and Bloomberg's
Roger Simon to talk about the Dems taking control, the new committee chairs and
what's ahead in '08. Catch up with Chuck Todd's "On the Trail" column for how
Tuesday's results came about
http://election.nationaljournal.com/todd/index.html and read VandeHei's latest
from the Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/09/AR2006110901856.html.

Plus, Time Magazine is reporting today that Germany's top prosecutor is seeking
a criminal investigation of outgoing Defense Secretary Rumsfeld and other U.S.
officials over prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. Time
Magazine's Adam Zagorin wrote the story, and he'll join us tonight. You can
