The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Hardball, a third career casualty at Walter Reed. Army Surgeon
General Kevin Kiley, former head of the army medical center, announces his
retirement. Meanwhile, politicos waiting for Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) to throw
his anti-Iraq hat into the '08 ring will have to keep waiting. Earlier today
the senator said he'll make his decision later this year. Then, forget about
the "West Wing." Will there be "Law and Order" in the White House? Former
Tennessee senator and actor Fred Thompson says he's mulling a run for
president. Plus, divorces, affairs, and multiple marriages - oh my! With
their varied backgrounds, which candidate will win the backing of the values
voters? That's all tonight on Hardball.

Up first tonight, Sen. Hagel's brother Thomas Hagel plays Hardball. The Hagel
brothers fought side-by-side in Vietnam. Thomas Hagel is now a law professor
at the University of Dayton. He'll be here tonight to tell us about the Chuck
Hagel he knows.
Then, Washington Post reporter Dana Priest first broke the Walter Reed story
several weeks ago. She'll talk about this newest development, and we'll hear
from Paul Reickhoff, Executive Director of IAVA: Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans
of America and author of "Chasing Ghosts."
And we'll talk family values and '08, plus the latest on Bush, Iraq and the
troop surge with NBC's Andrea Mitchell, Esquire's Charles Pierce, Chris
Cillizza from washingtonpost.com, and Tony Perkins, President of the Family
Research Council.
