            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------

Dear Hardballers,

The elite of Democratic politics and media gathered at the hot, hip home of
Michael Feldman to celebrate Howard Wolfson's 40th birthday. . An event so
important Carter Eskew and Jay Carson were there.and event so hot there was a
VIP room or should I say VIP roof...and an event so swank Senator Hillary
Clinton (who loved the People cover with Howard as "Sexiest Man Alive")
hobnobbing with other notables.Patti Solis Doyle.Mandy Grunwald and Matt
Cooper..David Chalian.Dan Balz...Jeff Zeleny.Pamela Brown.Mark McKinnon
(wearing a pork pie hat and discussing his election film with Sharon Stone).
Our favorite Andrea Mitchell attended after reporting the Wolfowitz story for
Nightly News and Hardball and an authors event! But you want to know who was
in the VIP room? Philippe Reines, who had the biggest gift, Jeremy Bash and, of
course, A. Michael Allen. Also at the party: Rep. Nita Lowey and just about the
whole Clinton clan! On the eve of his 30th birthday Hardball's own Querry
Robinson along with Senior Producer Connie Patsalos were yakking it up with
Matt Cooper and Michael Crowley. Don't you think Matt would be a great
side-kick funny man with David Gregory if he takes the morning show?

The food included high-end burgers and crab cakes and HoWo cupcakes with blue
and yellow icing for the birthday boy. (IS HoWo a Glover Park nickname?)

Still suffering the ill effects of the 2 Tucker cakes, Querry's party today
included an edible arrangement (of fruit) and Chris Matthews singing to the
tune of "16 Candles" 30 candles. Happy birthday Querry!

It's a big week for NBC News biggies to share their advice and good wishes to
graduates around the country. Tim Russert has a marathon tour of commencement
addresses which began Thursday at Yeshiva, Washington University today,
Cleveland State University Saturday, then Centre College, in Danville Kentucky.
Go Tim! David Gregory, getting a standing "O" as he left MS HQ following his
incredible morning shows this week, is on his way to Kenyon College and our own
Chris Matthews at Villanova University.

You don't want to miss Hardball tonight because the very-popular Hardball
Hotshots are back! The Hill's A.B. Stoddard, TIME's Mark Halperin and CQ's
Jonathan Allen will all be here to break down the big stories of the week! We
begin with Senator Clinton's name-that-tune online message, in which she asks
voters to help her pick her campaign theme song. Plus, we'll take a look at
Senator Fred Thompson's attack against liberal lightning rod Michael Moore
(http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8029495293276651129&hl=en). And how
about James Dobson's's diss against Rudy Giuliani! Check out AB Stoddard's
blog on Fred Thompson's video
http://pundits.thehill.com/2007/05/18/man-of-the-moment/.
Plus, Hardballers Michael Powell, a Democratic strategist, and Michelle
Bernard, president of the Independent Women's Forum, will be here to talk about
why so many of the presidential candidates are millionaires and whether
Attorney General Gonzales can hold on to his post.

Also, NBC's Lisa Myers will be here with her blockbuster report on whether our
troops have the best body armor.

It's all coming up tonight on Hardball, so don't miss it!

Brooke Brower, Tammy Haddad and Jeremy Bronson all contributed to this
briefing. Please stuff it in you pocket and study it over the weekend.
