            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
The newest battle to take over Washington isn't Democrats vs. Republicans, but
the unlikely contest of Rush vs. Bush. Is the president leaving his base
behind? Plus, New Hampshire - home of the country's first presidential primary
- adds fuel to the '08 political fire by legalizing civil unions for gay
couples. And the stock market hits a 7-year high...that's all tonight on
Hardball.

Speaking in Georgia on Tuesday, President Bush attacked opponents his
immigration plan, saying, "It's clear they hadn't read the bill. They're
speculating about what the bill says, and they're trying to rile up people's
emotions." Bush supporter Rush Limbaugh didn't appreciate the president's
fighting words: "The thing that is most troublesome to me is that the words
that he spoke yesterday were a criticism of the people who have stood by him
through thick and thin."

We'll talk about it all with Air America president Mark Green and former Bush
41 aide Ed Rogers. And later in the show, more with today's Hardballers - USA
Today's Susan Page, Bob Tyrrell, founder of American Spectator, and Ryan Lizza,
from The New Republic.

Plus, tonight on NBC's Nightly News, Janet Shamlian has an exclusive national
evening news interview with Michelle Obama. We'll take an early look at what
the wife of the Democratic hopeful had to say about the race here on Hardball.

And the stock market reaches a 7-year high. Who wins, how long will it last,
and what role will the economy play in '08? We'll debate with former U.S.
Secretary of Labor Robert Reich and MSNBC's Pat Buchanan.
