            The Hardball Briefing On MSNBC
------------------------------------------------------
This afternoon, famous-for-being-famous hotel heiress Paris Hilton was sent
back to jail and ordered to finish her 45-day sentence for parole violation in
a reckless driving case. Hilton had been released on Thursday and transferred
to house arrest after LA Country Sheriff Lee Baca decided that a medical
condition would prevent her from safely staying in custody for the length of
her sentence, which had already been reduced from 45 days to 23 days for good
behavior.

The decision sparked outrage with critics saying she was getting special
treatment because of her star status. In tonight's Hardball Debate, the Rev.
Al Sharpton and criminal defense attorney Roy Black take on the Hilton case.
Are there, in the words of '08 contender John Edwards, two Americas? If Hilton
wasn't a wealthy socialite, would she have been let out of jail in the first
place? Or has she been treated more harshly from the start because of her fame
and wealth?

Then, a Hardball exclusive: yesterday Chris sat down with House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi (D-CA), who's making her 20th anniversary in the House. We'll take a
look at the interview tonight. If you didn't read Hardball intern Kate
Kauffman's behind-the-scenes scoop on Thursday's adventures with Chris on
Capitol Hill, check it out at www.hardblogger.msnbc.com.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Carl Bernstein spent the last eight years
researching "A Woman in Charge," his new biography of '08 contender Sen.
Hillary Clinton (D-NY). After years in the public eye, what don't we know
about the former first lady? Bernstein tells us tonight.

Plus, MSNBC will have live coverage of the space shuttle launch at 7:38 PM EST.
We'll get a Hardball preview of the historic moment from NBC's Jay Barbree, on
location at Cape Canaveral, FL.
And at 9 PM EST, MSNBC's Dan Abrams hosts a special report, "Paris Hilton: Back
to Jail."
