Does documentation exist for the outbound hl7 messages?

Does VistA-Office have designs for integration?

VistA is -currently- very well set up for -sending- HL7 messages for
clinical data since the current evolution of VistA is to insure that all
clinical and administrative data can be hosted in national clinical and
administrative repositories for VHA. Conversely, the display of a patient's
aggregate health record through CPRS -will- be done (in test this fall)
through a common data service that retrieves the data from the repositories.

It would not be much of a stretch to host a "repository" in VistA for
smaller enterprises.

Thanks much.

I am not so interested at the moment in IFCAP type data, but with Patient
related data.

After some research it looks like the HL7 receiver / responder has been
implemented via the VistA HL7 package, but that the actual MUMPS code
defining messages to be sent / received for various processes has not been
written.

Sounds like it would be a big job to provide integration with VistA patient
data.

Any other caveats / problems / concerns re the integration issue I should be
aware of?

-James
