If I am adding new entries that are supposed to be in specific IEN, I gather I should not have
 S IENS=D1_","_AOJDA_","
but instead should have
 S IENS="+1,"_AOJDA_","
and the IEN array should be
S IENARRY(1)=D1
 
Is that right?

I know this sounds like a cop-out, but my advice is "Don't do that." If you care about more specific diagnostics, use UPDATE^DIE instead.
