Wow, that sucks and doesn't sound good for Antec. Are you going to at least RMA them back to Antec to see if they'll stand behind them repair wise?

What was the load you had on them?

The first had an inadvertant physical modification made to one of the power leads, and is hence unable to be warrantied. I have an RMA request submitted already for the second unit, though. We'll see if Antec lives up to the wonderful AQ3 warranty they proclaim. They can redeem themselves somewhat, but I'll still never buy another unit.

The load was significant, but well within the parameters of the power supply. Dual 2800's, 9800 Pro, (6) 7.2k HD's, 12 fans in total. Two optical drives, 4 sticks of RAM. Around 450 to 550 watts pulled from the wall, which accounts to around ~325-375 watts of load on the suppy when you figure in efficiencies. It has been running the same configuration for over a year with no problem...voltages were within range for all rails.

The temperature was very reasonable, too. I've had my air-conditioner on for several days now.

So, I have lost all faith in Antec's power supplies. I have three of them here...two of them have died in the last two weeks. They exist in different ZIP codes, so it wasn't a surge. Both are behind UPS. The first simply stopped providing a high +5v rail, the second went snap, crackle, pop, and smoke tonight while I was typing an essay. Both were True550's...two dead within two weeks is enough to scare me away. I was even willing to forgive the first failure...but not two.
