I have a machine with an NForce4 motherboard and one SATA drive. I put in a second SATA drive, enabled RAID, and setup a mirrored RAID configuration. It asked me if I wanted to clear the drives, and I said no, assuming that it would build the array once I rebooted. But when I reboot, Windows starts to load and then reboots (won't boot to safe mode either.) Disabling RAID allows me to boot with both drives with no problems. I tried telling the chipset to rebuild the array, but that made no difference. How do I get RAID after I've installed Windows?T
You're lucky you didn't kill the partition. In general, even with RAID 1,
the array needs to be reformatted once built. You can go with software RAID
in windows or maybe NVIDIA has an online (runs while in windows) RAID
utility tool that you can try creating the mirror in.
