Thanks for all the input. This is the exact reason why I won't buy an iPod.
I'd rather have an ugly machine that does the same job but lets me just drag
and drop files in and out of it.

Well, this is as I suspected. I'll be hunting around for a solution.
Sharepod sounds good...
