[H] Weird Thumb Drive Problem

Okay....I plug in a thumb drive into a USB port.  I hear the characteristic 
sound that lets you know the system recognizes it.  Yet, if I open My 
Computer or Explorer I don't find the drive, hence I can't copy to it. If I 
open an app, and do a File | Save operation, I can usually find it. But that 
won't work if I want to copy an either folder to the thumb drive.  Even a 
Right Click | Send To won't work.

What gives?
