[H] Strange surfing problem

I have an XP computer that won't surf with either Firefox or IE6 - 
both come up saying the server didn't respond.  I can ping, tracert, 
ftp and telnet to sites with no problem, and MSN Messenger logs in.

I don't think it's the winsock, but I tried WinsockFix with no 
success.  I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP, 
uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, resetting the firewall 
settings, but no go.  Any ideas?
