Wayne,
Have PFEv101. Easy to use so far, but have not used it yet to edit anything.
How do I know that it will save the dot-mbx file w/o mucking the format and/or
any special Eudora characters?

I do notice that the dot-mbx files seem to be encoded in ANSI. At least this is
what the Properties window says...Should I choose ANSI in PFEv101 B4
opening the files for edit/update?

Seems most of the 'help' files for PFEv101 are written for programmers. I am not
a programmer; so most of the 'help' business is right over my head......... :)
OK, maybe just thick or stupid!

I do understand this. Damn thing almost has more bells and whistles than the
whole Windows OS! Just wondering? Will play with it tonight!
Best,
Duncan

Thanks Wayne,
Uh, that explains it. I'll do some searching. This link editing issue
with Eudora has been a sore spot for a number of years of use.

Thanks. Yes, I do see that the dot-mbx file can be edited.

What editor did you use?

Programmers File Editor

I used WordPad, but found that WP
did not save the result properly. I selected Unicode instead of Text.
Eudora needed to do some sort of recovery.
All emails came back with a "?" as the Read/Unread status marker.
Just finished changing them all back to /Read/.

I have a Read & Unread icons on my toolbar so it's no problem to do a Ctrl A then click the icon as req'd.
