Rick,
Thank you. Points well taken; I did consider all these points prior to my
decision and fully intend to keep IE fully patched (well up until WinUpd
stops sharing updates for W2K!). My current ire with IE revolves around
just a hand full of websites that just no longer print properly. I could
have some other problem going on, but my tests all point to IE ATM.
I will still use IE for my major banking and investment duties until I can
confirm that FF will work as painlessly. I have no plan to try any type of
IE de-featuring. I'll just let it do whatever whenever. With the A/V I
use I have not seen anything suspicious since 02/07.
Best,
Duncan

If someone said this, sorry. (I looked ahead, but am trying to catch up...)
You can "elect" to stop USING IE,
but you can't stop things that are "hard coded" to use it - from using it.
Since it is "built-in" to the OS, you MUST keep it patched,
if you are using it or NOT.
All this sneaky stuff that runs around trying to invade our systems will
not care if you run FF or not. As a matter of "fact", it will "love it"
if you neglect IE patches at the same time....

I am ready to give IE the boot! IE is driving me over the edge, finally.
Most likely, because I refuse to keep up with all the internal bits/bytes
that M$ changes to "improve" their product.
