I agree, use the native 1680x1050....

And BTW, Viewsonic says the VA721 is

"1280x1024 native resolution 
Incredible image detail for sharp text and graphics."

I thought 1024x768 sounded low for a 17 inch panel..  :)

You do realise that a panel with 1050 pixels on the vertical axis  
won't actually be able to display 1200 pixels of height? if it'll even  
take the signal it'll have to randomly lose detail from somewhere.

why not just output 1680x1050 (which is 16:10 btw, not 16:9) to it???
