Well, this weekend I discovered the source of what looks to be most of
my problems with HTPC software.  Basically I had stopped a lot of
'unused' services from running on my system.  I had a feeling it was
something like that as I had a lot of problems with grabbing channels
and schedules.  So...I did a reinstall of XP and surprise!  All of a
sudden WinTV began to work.  Now I don't know which services are
required but I'm currently trying to find out.  My guess is that a lot
of my problems with Sage & Media Portal will now go away.  Incidently,
I also had problems with BeyondTV.  I updated the TV card drivers and
suddenly Beyond lost the remote.  I ran the setup again and got the
remote back but it decided to wipe the channel listing and then
refused to get it back.  As always, the adventure continues.....
