Just as another update, although I don't have it entirely configured, I've installed MediaPortal and was able to start the TV server and scan for channels (and actually find them!). Looking good, so far. I emailed Hauppauge on what services they require for WinTV to run. As expected, it's been several days without a response.
Bottom line is that if you're going to use nlite, be careful what you remove depending on what you intend to run.
