The acronis echo method is brilliant for hyperv. And its universal restore is brilliant. I've been a beta tester for acronis for years, and their product continues to leap ahead with features.
Their next generation has some more headturners. And I always felt univeral restore was a head turner. I've used Acronis TrueImage with Universal Restore to convert backups for use within Hyper-V with excellent results, and I've used the vSphere Standalone Converter for both P2V and VMWare Workstation to ESX migrations with good results. If all that Ghost 14 is doing is converting the backup to a VMDK disk-compatible format, the chances of success are quite a bit lower.
