To be honest for a general home user the performance difference
between i5 and i7 will be negligible. However if you use apps that

Games are mainly single core aware and prefer higher clock speed over
anything else. That is why intel introduced turbo boost. What it does
is shut off non utilized cores and dynamically increase the clock
speed of the "on" cores.
I7 does this more "aggressively and better" than i5 and the i7 8xx
does it better than the i7 9xx series.

Zul, I know you are a heavy user, but please explain the "8 threads
in the task mangler." I am confused. Why is this important or even

My 2nd PCs motherboard has apparently died so I am looking at a
upgrade, motherboard, ram and CPU. The I5 is the cheapest at 200
but there is a 800 series I7 for 80 bucks more... why wouldn't I
want to go with the I7>
It is getting so you need to take a class to figure out Intel /AMD
CPU lines.
