[H] Printer recommendation

My Epson Workforce printer is giving up the ghost.  I'm pissed about the 
fact that if one single ink cartridge (it has four, one black and 3 
color) runs empty, then this printer won't print at all. Also, if you 
clean the heads, it somehow uses ink.  I ran though nearly an entire set 
of cartridges without printing a single word or pattern, just by 
cleaning the heads.

Anyone got a decent printer recommendation?  Frankly, it seems like 
printers have gone the way of the dodo....it seems you get ripped on ink 
and get shoddy hardware to nearly nothing.  I don't print a lot, though, 
so my needs are not great, but I do need to print.  I'm working on a 
report right now and having a printed copy would be nice, but I can't 
even get a decent printed copy.
