I don't print much either, contracts, business letters...I try hard not to create paper output but you wouldn't believe it if you saw my office. Ten years ago I also got fed up with ink jet printers so in 04 I bought a huge office Okia Data color laser printer for around 400 bucks. You get about 2000 pages out of the cartridges they give you which lasted me 8 years. I replaced the expensive cartridges once but I will buy a new Okia Data printer next time I need a cartridge.

The last ten years I have never had a printer problem... no jams, no bad print jobs, no out or toner, no inexplicably doesn't work. Duplex, envelopes everything prints out with equal ease. It has a flawless network driver that is easy to use and unlike Samsung or others that have 100 meg software installs, you simply use your browser to log into the printer to check on things like consumables. It is Japanese made, it has expensive consumables... almost as much as the printer itself, and prints out color pretty good. Okia Data is strictly a business cliental company so they have 24 hour American phone support that is very good. They have excellent output and they are very reliable but their cost per page is high. But I don't print many pages so the no hassle no problem print it now reliability is worth it.

My Epson Workforce printer is giving up the ghost. I'm pissed about the fact that if one single ink cartridge (it has four, one black and 3 color) runs empty, then this printer won't print at all. Also, if you clean the heads, it somehow uses ink. I ran though nearly an entire set of cartridges without printing a single word or pattern, just by cleaning the heads.

Anyone got a decent printer recommendation? Frankly, it seems like printers have gone the way of the dodo....it seems you get ripped on ink and get shoddy hardware to nearly nothing. I don't print a lot, though, so my needs are not great, but I do need to print. I'm working on a report right now and having a printed copy would be nice, but I can't even get a decent printed copy.

Thanks.
