Ditch Windows 7? Dear God I hope it didn't sound like I said that. Like XP, 7 is a keeper. I can't recommend 8.x at all (well, maybe for a tablet or phone, the Surface I used seemed decent).
Frankly, I don't even see big changes between XP and 7.T
